October 9, 2006 Monthly Meeting

 

The meeting was called to order by President Harold Hoover at 1930 hours. There was a pledge to the flag and roll call of officers – 8 present.

The September 2006 minutes were read and approved.

Report of vice-presidents – Levi Freeburn – absent

Julie Erdman – absent

13 members were in attendance

Trustees – Trustee Rodgers has reviewed our insurance coverage with Andy Greiner.

Membership – Christopher Gast is eligible for membership.

Secretary – Correspondence for the month was read.

REPORT OF COMMITTEES:

Fire Prevention -- We will be attending the local schools on Tuesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 12, 2006. Anyone that is available is invited to attend.

Election of New Members – Christopher Gast is eligible for membership. He was approved for membership by a vote of the members present.

Ways and Means – Each fire company will be receiving $2,500 from the carnival committee.

Thirty-seven and one-half barrels of cabbage were cut.

Grants – The State grant was written for training but the training classes were cancelled. Chief Miller received approval from the State to use the money for pagers and the laptop computer in Engine 3-11-1.

War Memorial – The hall has been reserved from December 30, 2006 through January 2, 2007 for the sauerkraut dinner. The back of the building will be painted to match the front. We have not been asked to contribute towards this project since we paid for upgrades to the front of the building during our building project.

Zone 3 – Meeting was at Churchtown Fire Co. Next meeting will be at Farmersville.

LCFA – The County commissioners have found three other potential sites for the morgue.

Sign and Floor – The pricing from Visual Information Services was lower than Horst Signs. However, the process is moving slower than anticipated. Drawings will be given to the township zoning officer to get the necessary permits.

REPORT OF OPERATIONS:

Engineer – Both engines will be undergoing pump service during October.

There were two empty cylinders on the cascade at the last incident. It seems someone was working with the system and drained the two cylinders.

Fire Chief – 15 incidents for September.

We will be facilitating two of the fire club classes at CV Middle School. Our dates are November 21 for "hoses and nozzles" and May 15 for "fun day". We will probably need help between the hours of 1400-1530. A motion was made to attend these events. The motion was seconded and approved.

Nominating Committee – The nominating committee has the following nominations for office for 2007:

General Remarks – A question was raised about the Trustees getting set-back thermometers installed in the engine bays prior to the winter. After a brief discussion about the lack of initiative by the Trustees for this project, a motion was made to have Miller & Sons install the programmable thermostats in the engine bays. The motion was seconded and approved.

Carnival dates for 2007 are July 26-28.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 1930 hours.

A motion was made to adjourn. Seconded and approved at 2017 hours.
