Facilities

The Upper Leacock Fire Company is located at 50 West Main Street (Rt. 23) in Leola, PA.  We are approximately 6 miles from the intersection of Rt 30 and Rt 23 on the east side of Lancaster.  Our mailing address is PO Box 335, Leola, PA 17540.

The Upper Leacock Fire Company resides in the east portion of the Upper Leacock Township War Memorial Association building.  This building (to the right of the picture) was built in the late 1940's as a memorial to the veterans of WWII.  The Leola Ambulance occupied the apparatus bay closest to the main entrance until their move to 143 West Main Street in 1997.  In 1972, the left two engine bays were added while the building was occupied by the Leola Fire Company.  In 2000, the entire facility housing the Fire Company was remodeled to strengthen the structure and widen the bay doors in the oldest portion of the building.  This project cost approximately $200,000.

During the 2000 renovation, a training / meeting room was built.  The room, about 980 sq. ft. in size, has an overhead audio / video projection system for training classes.  The room comfortable seats 40 students.  A fully climate controlled facility is a welcome change from the old area that has now been turned into a lounge.  This lounge area is approximately 500 sq. ft. and gives members a place to stay during over-night stand-byes at the station.

Future plans for the meeting room include displaying the 1910 hand-cart, along with other historical items in a small museum area in the back of the room.

The photo to the left shows the large engine bay.  This currently houses the gear racks and the two largest pieces of apparatus. This bay, about 1450 sq. ft., has an epoxy-resin floor for durability and ease of cleaning.  Located the back of the bay is the Bauer 5-stage, 6000 psi air compressor for filling the cascade unit on Air 3-11 (see photo lower left).

The photo below shows the smaller engine bay (approximately 1100 sq. ft.).  This currently houses the 1995 Saber and the Ford squad unit.

The facilities also include a bay for the traffic unit (400 sq. ft.) and an administrative office (300 sq. ft.).  In 2002 a pole-building was erected at the rear of the War Memorial property to provide storage capacity.  This is approximately 800 sq. ft.
